ON SEEDING PEACE ______________________________________________________ Richard Reoch, president of Shambhala International, says the same practices that bring peace within can help bring peace to the world. But there is such a staggering amount of war in this world. It is also sobering to think of what money is not being spent on in so many countries, because of what money is being spent on. "We need to find the space in which peace can emerge." A large task to overcome the world's pain and suffering. But if we "listen" we can begin to hear the willingness to change. The Coach agrees . . . "we can train ourselves and we can train others to find, within the futility, the seeds of real peace." ______________________________________________________3. ON THE POINT OF THE STORY Over the years, while listening to professional speakers, I notice that the best story tellers deliver a speech with several stories that are accented by their points. They understand that it isn't just providing content that impacts their audience, but their story. A way to inspire, motivate and get people to take some action, think differently. To make the emotional connection with your audience, try Pareto's Principle: 80% story and 20% content. You must reach their hearts and their souls. ON THINKING BIG "To win market share, don't try to influence what brand of product people buy. Instead, says Dr. David Aaker, vice chairman of Prophet, change how people use the product in the first place. It isn't enough to repackage, tweak products or even provide promotions. The way to improve your market share is to make innovations, create new product categories and subcategories. (Coke and Pepsi acquired Gatorade to capture the high interest in health drinks) The U.S. auto industry does this when they come out with dramatic innovations.
