Dr. Lloyd Thomas reminds us of a "vital truth" when he quotes physician, Albert Schweitzer. "Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory. The only ones among you who will really be happy are those who have sought and found how to serve." Lesson here - the more you give or serve others the happier you will become. Ghandi also believes, "even as we serve others we are working on ourselves." And so, I became a Rotarian in 1991 to use my hammer so others could have a simple home, to donate clothes and money to those in need, to spend time with students and dance for Seniors so that we can smile, laugh and enjoy each other .

Call with Questions. Call with Suggestions & Referrals. Call with Offers of Assistance or Resources. Call with Requests for Assistance. Call to Confirm details & agreements. Call to Gather a Quote to use. Call to Explore Possibilities. Call to Seek Guidance or Direction. Call for Recommendations. So I have. And now I am getting calls from those who want to be helpful and sharing with me. The "two-way" street can work.

The Coach sez . . . keep your calls short so you can get back to your emails.

5. ON FOLLOWING UP

A study by the Association of Sales Executives revealed that 81% of all sales happen on or after the fifth contact. If you are a business owner and making only one or two follow-ups, imagine all the business you're losing. Not following up with your prospects and customers is the same as filling up your bathtub without first putting the stopper in the drain! (David Frey) A follow-up allows you to ask good questions to learn about your potential client's needs and challenges. A good opportunity for you to present some possible solutions. That is how someone decides if they want what you have to offer. That's attractive. Build the relationship and "the sale" will come. This takes time, like any relationship. Be patient, be persistent.
